"Mr Daedelus brings back the wistful wonderment of the sublime `Invention' album on Plug Research and adds a serving of frisky hip hop sampledom for his full debut offering for Scott (Prefuse 73 / Savath & Savalas / Delarosa and Asora) Herron's Eastern Developments imprint. Inside the awesome sleeve artwork you'll find a mad fresh six tracker, kicking off with the awesome `Rabbit Ears', found sound samples and squeaks, acoustic guitar riffs wrapped around floating pah pa pah vocals and bright lit piano stabs fusing together to make an altogether warm but strangely alien introduction. Superb. `Busy Signals' has more fun sampled dialogue, 40's cinematic strings conveying mystery and daring underneath an old skool human beatbox - spitting hard beats and Fat Boys styled hi hat spluttering, mix with bass clarinet and serve with some carefuly selected pharmaceuticals. Top! `Snooze Button' kicks out the electronic hip hopdistorto beatz under another ace string sample; hard boom beats take this further out with skipping distortion, electrified steel string rubbing and a lovely lonely piano. `Doorbell' up's the tempo busting out beats like Hrvatski and Venetian Snares at a five year old boys birthday party. Yup, it's as good as that. After the music box hip hop drum box ballad `Back Doorbell' we find the Prefuse 73 Remix' taking `Busy Signal' and reinventing it with a re-edit frenzy : after thirty plus seconds of chop chop stretch and twist this mix kicks into a mad fat hip hop groove re-sequencing the beatbox and strings adding echoic resonance and a blast of funk.
