Super lush deep house, with Arcane tapping Italy’s hardest-working house producer for their latest Pantone-dipped platter, serving up four shades of creamsicle analog house to start 2019 off on a posi tip. The Fingers-indebted dreamy jacking “Flute” sets the vibe before quickly subverting it with infrared seeker “Lowe Me.” Flip it over for the sun-kissed saltwater float of “Control” and the breezy “Tropical Song,” something like Frankie Knuckles’ timeless “Whistle Song” injected with a spoonful of sand from one of Ibiza’s finest beaches. It’s a perfectly fine outing from Deep88, which shouldn’t come as a surprise given the man’s pedigree, and a dazzling new facet of Arcane’s delightfully unpredictable saga. Also the honey-tinted jacket coincides nicely with my 2019 resolution to wear more yellow (not to mention Paris’ latest civil upheaval!) and is easy to spot in any drab house crate when you want to light up the dance.
