Tremendous electropop lunacy from Brooklyn's Dre Skull, who clearly subscribe to the Sebastien Tellier school when it comes to combining the sublime with the ridiculous. Were it not for the pitched-up electronic vocals this track might sound like some sweetly epic synth ballad, or maybe even an MGMT offcut, but 'I Want You' is somehow all the better for involving inappropriately, clashing sound treatments. The remixes are all good and well, but AC Slater's bassline house remix takes the silliness quotient a little too far, and somehow ends up making the whole thing sound a bit too normal for its own good. Alex Gopher on the other hand probably plays it too seriously, and indeed the remaining mixes aren't quite able to retain the magic of the Dre Skull source material. Consequently, you'll probably find yourself returning to that original version again and again - its straight-faced preposterousness is a gift that keeps on giving.
Featuring remixes by AC Slater, Alex Gopher, Bok Bok, & Bombo.
