Worldbeat-assassin Filastine follows 06's well recieved 'Burn It' set with another set of politically fired and globalgrime encrusted riddims for DJ/Rupture's Soot outlet. Releases have largely taken the back seat to Filastine's now famous live show, involving frantic live and programmed percussion, since his last album, but this set brings the energy and unpredictably located beat sources of these live shows into a clever and constantly morphing new long player. The bellicose strings and splattered hip hop breaks of 'Singularities' ratchets up the anticipation for a cool album, swinging from post-Timba style Eastern riddims on 'B'Talla' feat. Rabah, to sample collages on 'From The South To The West', to creaking bass bangers with seraphic vocals on 'Fitnah' featuring Jessika Skeletalia Kenny. Filastines seemingly endless store of rhythms continues to morph from riotous samba syncopations on 'Marxa' to staccato Miami snappers on 'Hungry Ghosts' feat Wire MC & ECD, to tabla and dubstep bass wriggles on 'Desordenador', and ornate flamenco guitars with sweeping LFO filters on 'The Sinking Ship. Imagine what you'd hear if you've travelled the world for years and condensed the whole lot into one albums worth of concentrated rhythmic ideas and memories, and you'll be close to what's going on inside this set. Recommended for fans of Rupture, Ghislain Poirier, Maga Bo and music from the well beaten track.
