Description

Wonderful career best album from Andrew Broder and chums (why on earth was an album on a UK label available in the USA almost eleven weeks prior to it's UK release date???) The thirteen track album before me builds on the somewhat hatstand free psych folk hop sounds of the Hymie's Basement album (also on Lex), Andrew Broders love in with Why? from Anticon. '10th Avenue Freakout' is just that - a glorious freakout encompassing folk, slacker hip hop, electronica, free jazz, and so much more again fuelled by the percussion from Martin Dosh and this time tinkered with by none other than Cepia from Ghostly International otherwise known as Huntley Miller. An extremely enjoyable album that manages to keep a firm grip on it's outersider flourishes, by the time you hit the amazing 'A Murder' and 'The Hully Gully' you'll be doing cartwheels round the room. The moment 'A Murder' hits the free jazz segment it's like the Art Ensemble Of Chicago have just landed in your basement.
