This 7" on the ever-lovely Lex imprint is from the underrated Fog who contributes possibly his best track to date (and hopefully an indication of the sound of the next album!). Sounding more like Smog than Fog (see what I did there) this is a prime piece of sing-along Americana with more soul than you can shake a stick at - Andrew Broder's voice sounds better than it ever has and the production, still crunchy enough to give you memories of the Anticon days, is top notch. So what more could we ask for then? Well, a mix from Jesu wouldn't hurt - yep the Godflesh man Justin Broadrick (and current producer de rigueur) turns in a stunning remix which takes Broder's characteristic vocals and props them up with some truly dense walls of synthesizer and guitar to create something totally new. This is the sort of remix that re-kindles your faith in the whole idea (which you've got to admit got a bit flat after all those endless remix compilations) and makes buying this single just about compulsory.
