2013 repress - "Here we have the follow up to Fred Peterkin a.k.a. Black Jazz Consortium's beautiful debut full length CD "Re:Actions to Light," which in a way epitomized the newly emerging deep instrumental sound of New York. Peterkin's signature is warmth; the chords chosen and the production used to deliver this sound relies on the minimal application of effective chord structures to lend a patently visceral character to his songs, records equally as worthy in an environment of solitude and reflection as they are in a packed club. The "No Looking Back EP" marks the solidification of Peterkin's sound, with the title cut eclipsing basically every "deep" record of the last number of months in sheer power and efficacy. One of those records that sounds so beautiful you need to associate it with a moment of beauty or intensely sentimental power from your own experience, whether past, present or future, something definitively meaningful in the most sincere sense.
