Chicago's Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being is 'The Seer Of Cosmic Visions'. Arriving not long since his amazing 'Worst DJ Ever' mix for Reel Torque, this is his first studio album of 2014 - unusually so, considering that he self-released some seven albums in 2013 - drawing from previously vinyl-only releases and new experiments to document his most vivid, recent revelations. They all tend to the noisier, innately abstract side of his oeuvre - call it Rhythmic Cubism or Cosmic Be-Bop rather than "outsider house" - steeped in the EBM/house deviations of his mentor, Adonis, and the concentric alchemy of Ron Hardy, as much as the lessons of free jazz, industrial and noise. There's nine tracks in total, reaching out from the stomping swirl of the title cut to fractured rhythms reminding of Russell Haswell in 'How Wet Is Your Box', and chiming astral folk dance in 'Space Is The Place', next to the recursive, psychedelic flux of 'A Genre Sonique', and the Gherkin-jerkin' bounce of 'The Human Experience', thru the Afro-futurist flight of '134340' and 'Strange Signs In The Sky'.
