Lobster Theremin present the vinyl debut of yet another talent in the shape of Budapest's Imre Kiss. Born with a cosmic identity that sees his sound referencing everyone from 80's film composers through to The Hague sound of Legowelt and Orgue Electronique, Imre manages to squeeze every ounce out of the every sound he uses whilst simultaneously absorbing the user into another world.
Following on from his mainly soundtrack and ambient-focused Midnight Wave tape album for Farbwechsel, 'Raw Energy EP' sees him apply his craft to a range of electronic works that aim just that bit closer to the dance floor. Although Stellar 0102 is anything but danceable, with dusty layers and spooky atmospheres drifting over intense interstellar drones that come rippling from beneath the sheath of textures. Non is filtered into effect with it's insanely chunky lead synth shimmering to the undulating 707 beat pattern. More hair-raising elements come seething from the wings, building layer upon layer of intensity until the calm falls.
Imre's passion for the deep is explored on the tranquillised Spellbound. Dragging under the weight of it's own lethargy, this is a slow-slung jam for the slow movers and deep diggers. If a track was to be it's title then Raw Energy is that track, riding a relentless arpeggio into a beaming, reddening sunset. This is drive-time techno with the clock running down; pure desperation and angst, hyper-pressurised until the levy breaks. Ending on a very similar note to the start, Belief has us loping along at a steady tempo, brimming on a drug-induced high tinged with paranoia, until all fades to black.
