In the realm of “reggae rock,” it’s important to stand out somehow. Whether through the use of unconventional song structure, incorporating elements of punk music or creating your own hybrid sound, maintaining a sense of identity goes a long way. Iration, hailing from Santa Brabara, California, have done this very well over the course of their career.
Their self-titled album features 17 brand new songs and collaborations with peers including Slightly Stoopid, Tyrone’s Jacket and J Boog. Six albums into their career, the members of Iration seem quite comfortable with their sound — and it adds up to a very relaxing, laid-back listen.
“We’ve always been a band with very eclectic influences. We’ve never shied away from exploring different styles or sounds,” shares lead singer and songwriter Micah Pueschel. “We’ve always said that we don’t care what ‘genre’ a song fits into, we just care that we serve the song and let IT dictate where we go. This album was two years in the making and is what we consider the definitive sound of Iration. You’ll hear all of our influences being channeled and it might take you a few listens before you hear them all. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the ride.”
