Ital Tek beams a streak of flash footwork hybrids on 'Control'. He's one of a handful of artists including Kuedo, Desto, Deft, Fracture, Om Unit or Throwing Snow who've really run with the slow/fast thing in recent years, splicing the rhythmic memes of road level Chicago with a classic sort of UK sci-fi music rooted in classic '90s AI and jungle structures. Over eight tracks he gives his own, hyperactive yet disciplined spin to that dialogue, dicing with a kaleidoscopic blend of fractious footwork jungle and angelic choral synth motifs in opener, 'Fireflies' and the heady, gyroscopic swirl of 'Jupiter Ascent', whereas the likes of the lush, Art Of Noise-alike 'Violet' and the breathless 'Challenger Deep' are more defined by a sublime tension, and there's a couple of beautiful, sci-fi cue-like moments to catch in the glassy vignette 'Zero' and the reflective cyberdelia of 'Doom/Dream'.
