Jib Kidder aka Californian audio/visual artist Sean Schuster-Craig deposits an album of intricate cut-ups on Asthmatic Kitty's Library Catalog Music Series - alongside the seriously good B Lan 3 LP, also out this week. 'Music For Hypnotized Minds' is a seductively sweet array of miniature collages spliced from records already released on Asthmatic Kitty. If you're an AK geek you might be able to spot the sample sources, but the magic here lies in his "dream-logic ideas of hybridization, dislocation & temporal simultaneity" enabled by his trusty Technics 1200 and laptop. At times it sounds like the more blissed out moments of Gang Gang Dance, while others recall the pastoral charm of Ghost Box or JP Massiera's unpredictable behaviour before constantly shifting pattern and managing to elude further classification in a lovely, warm and fuzzy, psyched-out fashion.
