Detroit prodigy Jimmy Edgar returns with a far superior release to last year's quite disappointing "Access Rhythm" EP, moving away from his Prefuse-induced hip hop stutters and returning, thankfully, to a more metallic sound that owes more to the dub/techno chimes of Basic Channel and the microscopic tones of Cologne then to any obvious Warp counterparts. The opening track "I Want to be your STD" is particularly satisfying, marrying a neon dub stutter with a funny dry rap narrative, adequately cut up and low-end heavy, good sh*t.
