DFA present a deeply trippy avant-disco treasure from Justine and The Victorian Punks. That fancy title is just one of the psuedonyms adopted by Tunisian-born, French national Collette - a mainstay of New York's downtown scene noted for her work in film, photography, paint and performance. Her outstanding title track was conceived in 1979 with considerable help from legendary producer Peter Gordon and His Love Of life Orchestra, taking sounds from a music box used in one of her installations, and slyly working it into a mid-tempo disco groove topped with her sensual yet naif vocals. The effect is so much more than the sum of its parts though, sounding like at least two or three tracks just happened to coincide at the same tempo, resulting in a brilliantly woozy and seductive juxtaposition. On the flip Collette and Peter give a sweetly sultry version of Lucio Battisti's 'Ancora Tu' oozing with style and ripe for the night. Oh aye, and it comes with a fold out poster, too! Recommended!
