The Life Force Trio follow up their highly acclaimed full-length release, Living Room (also on Plug Research) with a 45 that features elements of their amazing live set from The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, recorded on Friday, January 5, 2007 as part of the museum's First Fridays concert series. The Life Force Trio played a variety of music that inspired night including their tribute to Alice Coltrane, entitled "Alice!". Exactly one week later, Alice Coltrane made her transformation from the human experience here on Earth and traveled on to another realm.
After paying tribute to Alice Coltrane further on the day she passed, by devoting his entire Spaceways Radio show on KPFK 90.7FM, www.kpfk.org to her music, The Life Force Trio's founder/producer Carlos Nino decided to expand the raw 2-track stereo recordings from First Fridays event and put out this 45 in an effort to continue expressing the group's gratitude to Alice. Additional recording and mixing are what makes these two songs so special. They fuse live ensemble energy with close, clear sounds from a variety of acoustic and electric instruments for a truly extra-dimensional feel. A Dream Of Los Angeles With Clear Blue Skies compliments Alice! on the B-side with it's mystical tone and cosmic, explorative flow. It is also a piece that fuses live recordings from the above mentioned concert with studio overdubs and field recordings.
