Light Year - an apt name for collaboration that still sounds ahead of its time today. Raw visceral funk from two in-demand sages of the game - writer and singer Carl Kidd and fusionist guitarist Skip Pitts (more frequently spotted jamming out with Isaac Hayes) - these unreleased gems pop like it's 1974 all over again. "Powerline" is a swaggering, sweaty stampede that's like Whitfield-Strong at their most confrontational while "Move To The Rear" has much more of bluesy haze as Kidd hits similar sweet spots as Lee Fields. Two incredible worlds of music over two sides, this commands attention.
