Following the success of his massive 'Pulse 80s' split with Jakes, Mensah returns on H.E.N.C.H with an collision of late 80s/early 90s dance and dubstep. It's never really been mentoned before, but '1986 Was The Future' draws a very distinct parallel between ItaloElectro and dubstep rave. Think about it for two seconds - remove the JA influence and we're left with massive arpeggiated basslines + powerful electroid percussion + populist disco (read boogie/purple/electropop) synthlines = dubstep/Italo? We won't run any further with that but check the track and draw your own conclusions. On the flip 'Acid Dub' connects searing breakbeat acid hardcore with up-to-the-minute production values, and finally the title track accentuates the shoulder flinging potential of dubstep with crooked rhythms and hot hot keys.
