Mordant Music cleverly poke fun at the discussion around Hauntology this week with the latest in their brilliant 10" series titled 'The Hauntological Song'. Pressed up as a one-sided job with a lazer etched flipside, this is Mordant at their most screwy, initiating the track with a Harpsichord squiggle before cutting deep into the fabric of abstracted UK dance(hall) music with a fractal vision of ectoplasmic steppahs-bass rumbles, reverbed dub applications for stranger spaces and what sounds like the voices released from their collective minds. It's partly dub-on-ketamine, mixed with V/Vm style unpredictable oddness and a large chunk of Mordant's darkstyle humour to result in a floor dedicated headf*ck you'll return to again and again. Get in.
