Room Mist marks the first release from Nadsroic, a collaboration between Glaswegian producer Hudson Mohawke and vocalist Ciorsdan Brown. The EP fuses futuristic R&B and abstract electronic pop in a fashion that's comparable to the far-out genre crossing you'd find from the next generation of indie-tronic Brooklyn bands. Telepathe seems like an especially pertinent comparison to make once you've absorbed the gloriously left-of-centre beats and half-rapped vocals of 'Leopards', but there's a heightened sense of club-friendly toughness to tracks like 'Room Mist' or 'Step Back' that supplies a more functional dimension to the EP. The beats are consistently experimental without compromising on heaviness, something best emphasised by the resonant snares and electro-static discharges of 'All Hot'. Teaming the charismatic pop vocalising of Brown with the spacious, yet skull-crushing drum production of Mr Mohawke works a treat, producing an end result that's sure to find favour with fans of everyone from M.I.A. to Gang Gang Dance.
