Formula is not pure metal, it is not nu-metal either, or pop or grunge, funk, rap, indie or anything in between. Formula exists in its own "musical dimension".
If anything, Formula could be categorized as Experimental or Ethereal Metal- a distant cousin of Progressive Metal. Formula is certainly not like OLD's prior albums Lo Flux Tube or Musical Dimensions. Formula is it's own element - very cerebral and subliminal, very distinguished, yet very hard to find. Many noise enthusiasts may have rejected this work, based on its predecessors Lo Flux Tube and Musical Dimensions, albums which only hinted at the potential greatness yet to come. Formula could be compared to Coroner's Grin, a very misunderstood masterpiece.
