It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who follows the Soundaway label that famed record junkie and producer Will Holland (aka Quantic) is one of the key members of new signing Ondatropica. Based in Colombia, the band is fronted by Mario Galeano who is best known for Frente Cumbiero, and the two have fused Holland's passion for Colombian cuimbra with gaita, champeta and less traditional styles like ska, hip hop and funk. The result is strange but incredibly alluring, with a sparkling quality endemic of the Soundaway imprint. It sounds like the kind of party you'd only find in a humid, leafy landscape far away from the grime and constant rain of the British summer, and in that I can't think of a better way to get away from it all.
