Description

From the uber-cool house of NYC's Rvng Intl comes the slightly addictive sophomore album from Philadelphia's Pink Skull. Following a succession of hugely praised mixes, edits and original dancefloor fillers, 'Endless Bummer' is the first full length album proper to be released on said label, practically combining the influences of those juicy mixes into a high-strength set of songs to stroke your disco cortex. The group effortlessly layer house paced rhythms, kosmiche interludes and wavey disco influences with an off-the-cuff ease that makes peers like Mock & Toof or DFA look positively contrived. Take the play-it-again (and again) qualities of 'Peter Cushing' for starters, merging New Order-alike bass drive with flutes and tool sharpened house rhythms, or the deadly disco dub of PiL styled 'Chicken Dream Inside An Egg', followed by the Four Tet kosmiche of 'Wheet' for proof if needed, that these guys are possibly one of the best groups around doing this kinda thing. The title track and 'Oh Monorail' are solid favourites too, showing an appreciation for a druggy sense of psychedelia and house-enhanced dynamics that often passes over the heads of too many too-cool-for-school bands in this arena, placing them firmly in the category of "new bands I really should check!" Ace.
