"PLUS DEVICE create electro-funk/electro-pop with cult classic ambitions. Their ace debut full-length, entitled "Puncture", is influenced by the timeline of the earliest forms of Detroit-Chicago electro-techno-acid on through to current strings of underground electronic music being produced today. It's one of those records that's all things to all people. One minute it's a smooth minimal drum machine workout, the next it's a frantic Bernie Worrell-style Moog explosion. "Puncture" is an album full of hard hitting beats and percolating melodies.
The production is part rough and part slick, a perfect balance as nostalgic as it is modern. From poppy, flirtatious songs like "Body Heat" to the drugged and dragged-out acid cut "Our Pleasures" to the downright animalistic booty-bass of "Sexual Harassment", they just don't turn out club music as fun and enjoyable as PLUS DEVICE anymore. Simply put this on your turntable and enjoy these electro-funk masterpieces.
