Originally released on cd in 2009, this is the first vinyl version - very favorably comparable to Pantha Du Prince, Leif, James Holden/Border Community, etc.
Spanish Breakfast is the first full album from Rone (aka Erwan Castex), and as attempted by so many dancefloor producers, he's gone down the route of breaking up the long-form 4/4 numbers with interlude tracks and ambient sound design intervals. Fortunately, this isn't a card Castex overplays, and the flow between the glistening propulsions of 'Belleville' and the gently cinematic 'Aya Ama' remain unbroken, meaning there's plenty of room for building up momentum patiently. A very fine album, deftly stitched together from discerning beat productions and a carefully understated melodic presence.
