Northside '82 is proud to welcome Smart Bar resident Savile to the label for our second release. Entitled Suffer Play, this three track EP imagines an alternate reality where minimal house takes an extended detour through Chicago, strapping on the city's famous jacking percussion for a more robust but equally razor sharp sound.
"Spaced" opens the record with a jolt of jacking house, pairing a limber bass line with tense percussion and pinpoint vocal samples. "1PM Morning" is inviting and warm, a richly crafted environment lit by by resonating bass, wallpapered with sharpened guitar strums, and decorated with jangling percussion and clavinet accents. Closer, "Recipes From Nowhere", is the dreamiest of them all, letting melodies bubble around the track's bass line backbone and swaddling listeners in melancholic pads.
