R&S's revived ambient/deep techno sub-label continues to confound expectations, this time bringing to light the wonked-out hip-hop and trippy d'n'b minimalism of Submerse. '8bit Romance' and 'Cluster' feel like a gentler take on the day-glo, synthed-out beat science pioneered by Kaman Leung, Rustie et al, while 'They Always Come Back' and 'Give It Up' explore scuttling, Autonomic-influenced post-junglist styles, but with extra synth padding and luxuriant synth detail.
