While the Tuff City group of labels prides itself on reissuing the most authentic black music genres of the past 50 years, the continuum that began with small combo jazz of the 40's, R&B of the 50's, soul of the 60’s, and funk of the 70’s came under siege during the advent of disco and rap. However, as collectors and music lovers pored through the recordings of the late 70’s and early 80’s, a new genre called “soul boogie” emerged. While adopting the computer driven technology that fit the marketplace of the 70’s as well as the more straight ahead rhythms of the dancefloor, a medium was found by dedicated producers, writers, and labels that maintained all the positives of R&B and soul that seemed most in jeopardy. Tuff City Music Group is proud to introduce our first reissue of this kind- The Live Band’s “A Chance for Hope” LP. Recorded in studios in Houston, TX and Brooklyn, NY, this group finds the best qualities of soul, funk, and dance that shined through the technological advances of the era.
