From the battered jukebox of his mind, Toro Y Moi delivers two archival tracks from 2006. Both the title track and 'First Date' are shockingly devoid of the sun frayed electronics with which he's made his name, instead taking on Beach Boys vibe reminiscent of Panda Bear's material of roughly the same era. 'Leave Everywhere' is the more pop dedicated, featuring Chaz Bundick's vocals buried amidst dreamy guitar swirls and reverb laden drums, also rubbed with of Motown soul groove and more visceral garage noise. On the flip, 'First Date' s a brief but sunny shot of arching Americana guitars and another reverb drenched backbeat with a cute tenderness and instrumental simplicity that's markedly different from anything you'll have heard from him before.
