Brainfeeder presents a special "chopped not slopped mix of Thundercat's incredible album Drunk (2017) by DJ Candlestick and OG Ron C of legendary Houston DJ collective The Chopstars. Slowed down and chopped up, the mix has been appropriately re-titled Drank. It appeared online last year as an unofficial homage to the virtuoso bassist, songwriter and producer's third and universally acclaimed album and receivedhearty approval from Thundercat who proclaimed If you got Drunk it's only right that you get Drank. I feel like they go together. - inciting Brainfeeder to make a beautiful purple vinyl format.
The duo slowed down Thundercat’s project, emphasizing his infamous bass skills in a way that hasn't been heard before. On tracks like "Them Changes," Thundercat’s fast finger-picking and layering gets broken down so listeners can admire the different layers of the production in a new way. "I've always been into slowing down creative music and coming up with off the wall ideas to help expand the Chopnotslop genre. Thundercat's Drunk project falls right into the mix of that goal," DJ Candlestick told The FADER. "Of course we had to rename it Drank for the culture."
