South London born Trudie Dawn Smith emerges quietly but confidently with a refreshing take on a distinctly home grown sound. Born of a creative partnership between Trudie and drummer/producer Tom Skinner, No Pop's clattering, reverb drenched drums and loose-heavy dub bassline recalls a distinctive period in London's late 70's post-punk history, akin to the experimental sound of The Slits. Trudie's alluring voice with it's hushed but soulful delivery floats above the hypnotic haze, a sweet echo of memories past, recalling a dancehall of days gone by. Appropriately accompanied with the 'No Echo Dub' version on the flip side, the 7" release is a bold introduction to an intriguing new artist.
