A’dam’s Uffe bubbles up a real beauty on FaltyDL’s Blueberry Records, turning his hand to soulful psych-pop, Afro-beat rhythms and dusty dub with an effortless, sun-beaming appeal.
The Last Call EP is a product of both live and sampled instrumentation, but you’d hard pushed to pick out what’s what. Much better to just set that shit aside and let yourself drift on his vibe from the louche but deftly arranged, detuned jazz blues of As Long As It Seems - think Bullion doing Sun Ra - thru the terrific Tony Allen-style shuffle of When There Is No Sun and the Lifetones-esque mantra of Whose Life, to the exquisitely realised loosens of Last Call and achingly heavy but spacious dubs in Sea Sick and Tosmogs.
