This is Martyn's first Hyperdub assignment, some 2 years after Kode 9 started rinsing his 'Broken/Shadowcasting' 12" and he shot to the head of the dubstep league table. His killer 'Mega Drive Generation' cut works on a 130bpm flex, neither house/techno, nor dubstep, it's just that Martyn sound, innit? The track is unusually stripped for a Martyn production, favouring tracky and linear developments over his usual jazzy inclinations and concentrating on a unique riddim remaining compatible with Funky/House or Broken Beat. The most triumphant cut however is LD's magnificent 'Shake It', ripping out a percussive dubstep beast with a techno heart circulating dancefloor energy. When he drops that raving riff half way through, you know it's all over! A must have for fans of D1, Kode 9 or Mala - Massive twelve!!!
