New London imprint Stretched make their debut with a three track EP spanning the wide musical spectrum of dubstep.
Luke.Envoy follows up his Tempa All Stars release with `Feel Red', an atmospheric excursion into smooth sounds, with warm and booming subs sat beneath a complex broken beat rhythm, ridden beautifully by a glowing moog synth line. `Feel Red' is a classy and langorous sweep across the dancefloor augmented by jazzy clarinet fills and a keen sense of fusion funk dynamics that is destined for plenty of club and radio exposure in the coming months.
Ian Carter, better known for his work as one half of Various Production, unveils his first solo release as Mistah Klevvah with `Lucky', on which a twisting, turning monster bassline looms above glitchy drums, fiercely buzzing keyboard riffs, and piercing sequenced arpeggios.
Finally, the brilliantly-named newcomer Flames Dean offers `Lines In The Sand', wherein relentless drums, squelching bass and pounding subs combine to create a kind of over-wound aftershock of Kode9's `Black Sun'.
Opening for business with a trio of artists of such individual quality and musical diversity as are gathered here, it's clear Stretched is a label intent upon forging a distinct impression ... and on this evidence, they already have.
