If anyone were to make Adele's ubiquitous hit 'Chasing Pavements' demented and heavy it would have to be the operators behind the Various project. Heading up the first of two vinyl drops from one of our favourite production outifts in the world, Various tackle the source material with a surprisingly subtle, yet spectacularly altered edit. Utilising the song's most recognisable string motif and a large chunk of vocals Various have carved up a mindblowing future beat refix. This one wasn't included on their awesome 'Versus' album last year but on the flipside is a welcome vinyl cut of their Foals remix, taking 'Red Sox' by the balls and shaking it until only the vocals and epic feel of the original remain, before replacing the rhythm with a lean and grimy steppers syncopation and murky bass textures.
