South Carolina-born and now Boston-based 20 year old Dylan Scheer is above all else mischievous in her negotiations with techno and house. Dizzy, dark but extremely funky, Via App’s “Dangerous Game” goes deep in the most manic and precarious of ways.
As a visual artist interested in recontextualizing sounds that function to synthesize hype/excitement, “Dangerous Game” turns out a mixture of sludgey, textural techno and more paired back four-to-the-floor tracks that build off of traditional forms and flirt with outsider dance vibes for multi-layered zone of playful subversion.
Jacked on narrative conflict these 10 genre-bending tracks experiment with dance tropes in ways perhaps more akin to those in the noise realm or recent post-hypnogogic samplers in genuinely strange but also insanely heavy ways.
