The killer Lee Perry Vs... series keeps the pressure gauge ticking over with a dubbed-up versiona of 'Excersising' from O.G dreadnaughts, Horsepower Productions. We reckon these are some of the cleverest moves Perry and the On-U Sound have made in some time, aligning the ultimate old-skool mixmaster with experienced scene stewards like Kode 9, The Moody Boyz and now Tempa's longest serving legends. The richness of the production will leave many heads swimming, as the pair slide a deeply resonant bassline - crafted from what sounds like a cello - under Indian drum undulations coloured with twilight ambience for one of their most successful compositions to date. A flipside version leaves the original track open for all to gape at the lush construction, but we prefer the vocal with Lee Perry's gentle croon confidently supported by the nu-vintage sound of Horsepower's riddim, balancing the old with the new in a deeply respectful fashion.A Exersising B Exersising Version
