Lionmilk announces his first album on Stones Throw, WHEN THE FLOWERS BLOOM - his antidote to depression and heartbreak, presented through a lens of optimism and joy.
A truly self contained artist, Lionmilk wrote, produced, and performed every instrument on the new record. Each personal story is told with a different musical style: “only one” calls back to Lionmilk’s DIY and lo-fi roots; instrumental “tom is in heaven” pays tribute to a family friend who introduced Lionmilk to jazz; and “não mais saudade” focuses the Brazilian concept of saudade (longing) onto a story of relationships.
Even when Lionmilk’s going through it, the songs stay light – as he puts it, “a ‘cheer up’ for my depressed ass.” As he grows and learns, everything comes full circle in an eternal bloom.
